Rule 8.0 Uniform In Forma Pauperis Affidavit

If you can't afford to pay court fees, you can ask the court to waive them. This is called proceeding "in forma pauperis," which is just a legal term for asking the court to let you file your case without paying the usual costs.

To do this, you need to fill out a specific form called the Uniform In Forma Pauperis Affidavit. You can find this form in Appendix 8.0 of the court rules. On this form, you'll explain your financial situation to show the court you truly can't afford the fees.

This rule applies to regular people involved in court cases, but it doesn't apply to inmates. If you're in jail or prison, different rules cover how you ask to waive court fees.
