Art. 307 Jury instructions

When a case is being decided by a jury, and there's a legal presumption involved (a rule that says the law will assume one fact is true if certain other facts are proven), either side can ask the judge to explain this to the jury. If someone makes that request, the judge must tell the jury that the presumption exists and explain what it means for the case.

The judge's explanation has to follow the guidelines set out in two other rules, Article 305 and Article 306. These articles spell out exactly how presumptions work and how much weight the jury should give them.

In simple terms, this rule makes sure jurors understand any built-in legal assumptions that apply to the facts they're considering. Without this instruction, jurors might not know that the law already leans toward a certain conclusion unless enough evidence proves otherwise.
