VI § 3 Assignment of Cases for Arguments

Cases go up for oral arguments in the same order they were granted and put on the court's docket. If a case gets approved for review earlier, it will generally be argued before cases that were approved later.

The court can change this order if it decides to. So while cases usually move in a first-in, first-out order, the court has the final say and can move a case up or push it back whenever it thinks that's needed.

For people involved in a case, this means the timing of oral arguments depends partly on when the court agreed to hear the case. It also means you shouldn't assume a strict schedule, since the court keeps the power to rearrange things based on its own judgment.
