Law students can take part in real legal cases, but only through their law school's official program. The school has to approve, assign, and oversee every case a student works on. Students can't just pick up legal work on their own or take cases outside of this supervised system.

This means a student's involvement in any case depends entirely on their law school setting it up and watching over it. The school acts as the gatekeeper, deciding which cases a student can work on and making sure the work is done properly. If a case isn't approved and assigned through the school's program, a student can't work on it under this rule.
