XXXIV Pt. II § 1 Preparation of records

When a case is appealed, the trial court clerk is responsible for putting together the record and any transcripts needed for the appeal. This means gathering the paperwork, evidence, and written versions of what was said in court, then filing them so the appeal can move forward.

The clerk has to get this done in a timely manner, but some cases jump to the front of the line. Cases involving children in need of care, parental rights termination, adoption, surrender of a child, and child custody get priority treatment. This means the clerk should work on these records before others, since delays in these cases can directly affect a child's life and family situation.
