XXXIV Pt. II § 3 Assignment

When a case involves a child, such as a CINC case, termination of parental rights, surrender, adoption, or child custody, the Louisiana Supreme Court will give it a special spot on the schedule for oral argument. This means the case does not have to wait in the normal line with other appeals.

These cases go on the next open court date the court has available. The goal is to get these child-related cases in front of the judges quickly, since delays can have a big impact on kids and families waiting for a decision.
