XXXV § 2 Covered elections

Here's what this rule means for judicial elections in Louisiana.

The Committee watches over elections for most courts in the state. This includes elections for the Supreme Court, appellate courts, district courts, juvenile courts, family courts, parish courts, city and municipal courts, and traffic courts. If you're running for a judge position in any of these courts, the Committee has authority to oversee that election.

There's one clear exception. The Committee does not have any power over justice of the peace elections. If a dispute or question comes up about a justice of the peace race, this Committee is not the group that handles it.
