Rule 1.102 Effective Date

The Michigan Court Rules have been in place since March 1, 1985. They apply to all court cases started on or after that date, and also to any cases that were already in progress when the rules took effect.

In rare situations, a judge can allow an older case to follow the previous rules instead. This can happen if switching to the new rules would be unfair or just would not work for that particular case.
