When a judge makes a decision in a probate case, someone has to write it up as a formal document. That document must follow specific formatting rules set by the Michigan Court Rules.

If the case was contested, meaning people disagreed and argued their sides, there is a specific process for how the final written order gets submitted and approved. That process follows the same steps used in other Michigan civil court cases.
