Rule 7 Objections

If you're part of a court case and don't want cameras or recording equipment in the courtroom, you have the right to object. To do this, you need to file a written motion with the court, and you can back it up with sworn statements (affidavits) explaining why you object.

There's a deadline for this. You must file your objection at least 15 days before the court proceeding starts. This gives the court and other parties enough time to review your objection before the trial or hearing begins.

If you have a good reason why you couldn't meet that 15-day deadline, the court can allow you to file later. You'll need to show the court why there's "good cause" for the shorter timeline, such as if you just learned about the proceeding or the request for camera coverage.
