Rule 25.4 Clerical and Technical Errors

If a court order or judgment has a mistake in it, like a typo or a math error, the judge can fix it. This also covers cases where something got left out of the record by accident. The rule lets the court clean up these small errors so the paperwork matches what actually happened in the case.

Before making any fix, the judge has to tell both the State and the defendant first. This gives both sides a chance to know about the change and respond if needed. The rule is meant for simple corrections, not for changing the actual outcome of a case or rethinking a sentence. It just makes sure the official records are accurate.
