Rule 11.02 Powers of Judge Transferred

When a judge or commissioner gets transferred to a different court or district, they don't lose any authority during that time. They can do everything a regular judge in that new court or district can do. This means they can hear cases, make rulings, and handle all the normal duties that come with the job, just as if they had always worked there.

This rule exists so courts can move judges around when needed, like if one district is short-staffed or has too many cases to handle. Without this rule, a transferred judge might not have the legal power to actually do the job in their new location. The rule makes sure there's no gap in authority, so cases keep moving forward smoothly no matter where a judge is temporarily assigned.

For people with cases in court, this means a transferred judge has just as much authority as any other judge in that courthouse. Their rulings and decisions carry the same legal weight, and they're not considered some kind of temporary or lesser judge during the transfer period.
