Rule 12.19 Adjournment or Continuance

This rule lets the Commission delay or reschedule a hearing when there's a good reason to do so. If someone involved in the case needs more time, or if something unexpected comes up, the Commission has the power to push the hearing back to a later date.

The key requirement is "good cause." This means there has to be a real, valid reason for the delay. It can't be granted just because someone wants more time without a solid explanation. The Commission decides what counts as good cause based on the situation.

For anyone involved in a case before the Commission, this means hearing dates aren't always set in stone. If you have a legitimate reason to ask for more time, such as needing to gather evidence, dealing with a scheduling conflict, or facing some other genuine obstacle, you can request a continuance. The final decision on whether to grant it rests with the Commission.
