Rule 30.08 Communications to Court

If you have a case going through the court and need to send something in writing, whether it's a motion, a brief, a letter, or any other kind of message, you have to send it to the court clerk. This applies to anyone involved in the case, including outside parties who aren't directly part of the lawsuit but want to weigh in (these are called "amicus curiae," or "friends of the court").

The idea here is simple. You can't just write directly to a judge about your case. Everything needs to go through the clerk's office first, following the same process laid out in Rule 84.20. This keeps things organized and makes sure all communications become part of the official court record, so both sides have access to what's been submitted.
