Rule 30.11 Number of Copies to be Filed in this Court

When you file certain papers with this court, you need to send in more than one copy. For original writs (other than habeas corpus), applications asking the court to transfer a case, and motions asking for a rehearing, you must file the original document plus seven copies. That means the court needs eight total copies of these specific papers.

For most other filings, like the appeal record itself or other petitions and motions not listed above, you only need to file one original copy. You don't need to send extra copies unless a specific law or rule tells you otherwise. This rule basically tells you how many copies to prepare so your filing isn't rejected for being incomplete.
