Rule 32.05 Misdemeanors or Felonies - Change of Venue - Joint Defendants

When multiple people are charged together as co-defendants in the same case, and one of them asks for and gets a change of venue, that change only applies to that specific person. The case against the other defendants stays right where it is.

This means the court can end up handling the same overall case in two different locations. One defendant's case moves to a new location because they were granted a venue change, while the other defendants continue to face trial in the original court. Each defendant's request for a change of venue is decided separately, and one person getting a change doesn't automatically move the whole case for everyone involved.
