Rule 32.13 Misdemeanors or Felonies - Order of Change of Venue May Be Annulled - When

If a judge agrees to move a criminal case to a different county (a change of venue), that decision can still be canceled. But this can only happen if both sides in the case agree to cancel it, and it must happen before the case paperwork is actually sent to the new court.

Once the papers or transcript are filed in the new court, this window closes. At that point, the case is locked in at the new location, and the original court can no longer undo the change. So both sides have a short window, right after the change is granted but before the paperwork is transferred, to change their minds and keep the case where it started.
