Rule 114.02 Form and Content of Summons

When someone gets called to juvenile or family court, they receive an official notice called a summons. This notice must tell them exactly when and where the hearing will take place, including the date and time.

Along with the summons, the person must also get a copy of the petition. The petition is the document that explains what the case is about and why they're being brought to court. This way, the person knows both when they need to show up and what the case involves before they get there.
