Rule 6-1414 Costs.

If you're filing a case in county court, you generally have to pay court costs when you start the case. If more costs come up later in the case, you have to pay those too, as they happen. This applies to most types of cases, but there are exceptions for criminal cases, juvenile cases, and habeas corpus cases where someone has filed a poverty affidavit (a sworn statement saying they can't afford to pay) and the court has approved it.

If you have a lawyer, your lawyer is personally responsible for paying the clerk any costs that come up because of requests the lawyer makes. This means the lawyer can't just pass those costs off to the client and ignore them. The clerk can hold the lawyer accountable directly.
