Rule 1-202 Oath of office.

Before starting the job, court reporters and other court reporting staff must promise to do their work honestly and follow the rules. This promise is called an oath of office, and it's the same oath required by the Nebraska Constitution for public officials.

Taking this oath is a required step before someone can officially work in this role. It's a formal way of saying they understand their duties and will carry them out properly. Without taking this oath, a person cannot serve in this position.
