If someone shares private, protected information but only because a court or other authority wrongly forced them to, that information can't be used against them later. This also applies if they had no real chance to speak up and object before the information came out.

In simple terms, this rule protects people from losing their legal privilege just because they were pressured into revealing something they had the right to keep private. For example, if a judge mistakenly orders someone to answer a question that should have been protected by attorney-client privilege, and the person answers because they have no choice, that answer can't later be used as evidence against them. The same goes for situations where someone reveals protected information without being given a fair chance to object first.

The idea behind this rule is fairness. People shouldn't be punished for disclosures they never truly agreed to make. As long as the disclosure happened because of a mistake or because they weren't given a real opportunity to protect their rights, the privilege still stands and the information stays off limits in court.
