Rule 604 Interpreters.

If someone in court needs an interpreter, that person has to be qualified to do the job. This means the court has to check that the interpreter actually knows both languages well enough to translate accurately, the same way it would check any other expert's qualifications before letting them testify.

The interpreter also has to take an oath or make a formal promise before they start translating. This promise means they swear to translate everything truthfully and accurately, without changing or leaving out anything that's said. This protects everyone in the case by making sure the words spoken in court are translated the right way, so the judge, jury, and both sides can trust what they're hearing.
