Rule 903 Subscribing witness testimony; when necessary.

If a document has a witness who signed it to confirm it's real, you don't automatically need that witness to come to court and testify. In most cases, you can prove a document is authentic using other kinds of evidence instead.

The only time you must use the subscribing witness is if the specific law governing that document requires it. For example, some legal documents like wills may have special rules that say a witness has to testify for the document to count. But for most everyday documents, you have other options to show they are genuine.

This rule basically saves time and hassle. It means people don't have to track down and bring in a witness just because that witness happened to sign a document, unless the law specifically demands it for that type of document.
