If both sides agree to use an alternate jury trial, the people picked for the jury still have to meet the normal legal requirements to serve on a jury in Nevada. The judge running the alternate trial is in charge of putting together the jury pool and paying the jurors for their time. However, if both sides agree instead to use the jury process described in NSTR 23, then jurors get paid according to those rules instead.

The alternate trial judge also has the option to ask the regular district judge, the one who approved using an alternate trial in the first place, to help bring in the jury pool. This just gives the alternate trial judge some flexibility in getting enough qualified jurors together for the trial.
