Alternate trials in Nevada follow the same basic rules as regular trials. This includes the standard Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure, the jury trial rules found in NRS Chapter 16, the usual rules about what evidence can be used in court, local district court rules, and the Nevada Short Trial Rules.

The one exception is this: the people involved in the case can agree to change how the Short Trial Rules normally work. If both sides agree to handle something differently than what the Short Trial Rules say, they can do that. But everything else about the trial still follows the normal rules, unless this specific order says otherwise.
