Rule 223 Creation and organization of the committee

This rule explains how a committee is formed and run under Nevada's court system. The committee must have at least seven members but no more than ten. Members are chosen by the board of governors, and each person serves a two-year term. Someone can be reappointed to serve again, but no one can stay on the committee for more than 12 years total over their lifetime.

The board also has the option to include one member of the public who is not a lawyer, if they choose to do so. This means the committee is not required to be made up entirely of licensed attorneys.

Finally, the committee has two leadership positions: a chair and a vice-chair. The board of governors picks these leaders, and like regular members, they serve two-year terms before they need to be reappointed.
