When a court needs to officially send out a legal document, like a summons or order, that document has to follow a specific format. If it's coming from the supreme court, it will be issued in the name of the chief justice. If it's coming from the court of appeals, it will be issued in the name of the chief judge of that court.

The document also needs the clerk's signature and the court's official seal. This makes sure the paperwork is authentic and properly authorized by the court. Basically, this rule sets the ground rules for how court documents should look and who signs off on them, so everyone can trust they're legitimate.
