If a lawsuit involves money or property that one side needs to hand over, that person can pay or turn it in to the court while the case is still being decided. This is called making a deposit with the court.

To do this, the person has to let all the other parties in the case know ahead of time, and they also need the judge's permission. Once the court allows it, the money or property can be placed in the court's custody instead of staying with the person who owes it.

This rule helps in situations where someone doesn't want to hold onto disputed money or property while the case is ongoing. Instead of risking problems over who has it or what happens to it, they can put it in the court's hands until a judge decides who should get it in the end.
