If you're involved in a disciplinary case and want to gather evidence before the formal hearing, you can ask the chair of the hearing committee for permission to do this. This process is called discovery, and it lets you request documents, ask questions, or gather other information related to the case.

You can't do this automatically. You have to show the chair a good reason why you need discovery before the hearing takes place. If the chair agrees there's good cause, they'll decide the rules for how discovery will work, including what you can ask for and how it should be handled.

This means the chair has real control over whether discovery happens and how it happens. If you want to use this process, be ready to explain clearly why you need it and what information you're looking for.
