Rule 11-402 General admissibility of relevant evidence.

Evidence that actually matters to a case can be used in court. If evidence helps prove or disprove something important to the case, judges will normally allow it in.

There are some exceptions though. Evidence can still get blocked if the constitution, a law, or another court rule says it should be kept out. So being relevant is not always enough on its own. Something else might override that and keep the evidence from being used.

On the other hand, evidence that has nothing to do with the case cannot be used at all. If it does not help answer any real question in the case, courts will not let it in, no matter who wants to present it.
