Rule 12 No stay pending collateral proceedings.

When a judge is facing possible discipline, removal, or retirement through the Judicial Standards Commission, that case will keep moving forward even if the judge is also involved in other legal matters somewhere else. This means if the judge has a separate criminal case, civil lawsuit, or administrative matter going on at the same time, involving the same judge or the same person who filed the complaint, the Commission's case won't automatically be put on hold while those other matters play out.

The only way to pause the Commission's proceedings is if the Commission itself decides there's a good reason to do so. Without that decision, both cases move ahead on their own separate timelines.

This rule exists so that judges cannot delay disciplinary action just because they have other legal issues happening at the same time. It keeps the disciplinary process moving and prevents unnecessary delays that could drag out a case for months or years.
