§ 212.9 Venue

If you want to move a case to a different court location, that request has to be decided by the same court division where the case first started. In other words, you cannot ask a different division to rule on the request to move the case. The original division handles that decision.

If the judge agrees to transfer the case, the order will also explain what happens to the case file and paperwork already on record. This makes sure the documents get sent to the right place once the case moves, so nothing gets lost or left behind in the wrong division.
