§ 152 Power to administer oaths

Family court judges have the power to swear people in before they testify. This means the judge can put someone under oath, or ask them to acknowledge that what they're signing or saying is true. Judges can also let someone else who works at the court handle this task instead of doing it themselves.

There's a special rule for children, though. If a minor is testifying in a family court hearing, the judge doesn't have to go through the formal process of swearing them in first. This makes it easier for kids to share their side of the story without going through a formal ritual that might feel intimidating or confusing to them.
