§ 162 Waiting room for children

Family court is supposed to have a waiting room for kids who come to court under this law. Someone responsible needs to be there to look after the children while they wait.

This rule exists because kids sometimes have to come to family court for cases involving their families, like custody disputes or other family matters. The court is expected to give them a safe place to stay, with an adult keeping an eye on them, instead of leaving them in a courtroom or hallway during proceedings.

The phrase "so far as possible" means courts need to try to provide this, but it is not an absolute guarantee if a particular courthouse cannot make it happen. Still, the general expectation is that courts should have a supervised space for children when they are brought in for family court matters.
