§ 174 Transfer of proceedings to another county

If a family court case is filed in the wrong county, the judge must send it to a county where it should have been filed. This isn't optional. The law requires the transfer when venue is wrong.

The judge also has the power to move a case to a different county even if it was filed correctly, as long as there's a good reason for the move. This might happen if the people involved live elsewhere now, or if there's some other practical reason that makes another county a better fit for handling the case.

In both situations, the case can only go to a county where it could have legally been filed in the first place. The court can't send it just anywhere. This rule helps make sure cases are handled in a location that makes sense for everyone involved, and that the proper legal location rules are followed.
