§ 417 Child of ceremonial marriage

If a child's parents had a wedding ceremony at any point, either before or after the child was born, the law treats that child as the legitimate child of both parents. This is true even if something was legally wrong with the marriage itself, like if it turns out the marriage wasn't valid for some reason.

This rule protects children from being labeled "illegitimate" just because of problems with their parents' marriage that had nothing to do with them. As long as the parents went through some kind of wedding ceremony, the child gets full legal recognition as the child of both parents.
