§ 462 Effect of support order in matrimonial action on duration of family court support order for child

If a parent already has a child support order from family court, that order stops being active once the supreme court issues its own child support order in a divorce, separation, or annulment case. Basically, the newer order from the supreme court takes over.

The only exception is if the supreme court specifically says the family court order should continue. If the judge doesn't say that, the family court order automatically ends when the supreme court's order takes effect.

For parents, this means you don't need to worry about following two different support orders at once. Once the supreme court gets involved and sets its own support terms, that becomes the order you follow, unless the judge clearly states otherwise.
