§ 580-504 Immunity from civil liability

If your employer follows an out-of-state order to take child support payments out of your paycheck, they can't be sued for doing it. As long as the order came from another state and the employer handled it correctly under this law, they are protected from lawsuits by either the employee or any agency involved.

This rule exists so employers aren't caught in the middle. Without this protection, an employer might get sued just for following a legal order to withhold pay. The law makes clear that doing what the order says is enough to keep the employer safe from civil claims related to the withholding.
