If a judge decides the facts in the case prove what the petition claims, the judge must issue an order stating that the young person is a "person in need of supervision." This is often shortened to "PINS," and it usually applies to kids who are struggling with things like skipping school, running away, or not listening to their parents or guardians.

The judge cannot just make this decision quietly. The order has to spell out exactly why the judge reached this conclusion. It needs to list the specific facts that were proven and explain how those facts support the finding. This keeps the process fair and gives the family a clear record of what happened and why.

This step matters because it comes before the court decides what happens next, like ordering counseling, supervision, or other services. Having clear findings written down also gives the family a chance to understand the decision and, if needed, challenge it later.
