§ 772 Action on return from agency or institution

When a young person is sent back to court after being placed with an agency or institution, the judge gets to decide what happens next. The judge can issue any order that could have been made back when the original placement decision was first made.

There is one important limit though. The court has to subtract the time the person already spent in placement from any new order. This means the total time someone can be under court supervision does not start over from zero. The clock keeps counting the days already served, so the person is not treated as if the placement never happened.
