§ 815 Transcript of family offense proceedings; request by district attorney

When a family offense case goes through Family Court, the court keeps a written record (transcript) of what happened during the proceedings. This rule lets a district attorney get a copy of that transcript if they need it for a criminal investigation or case involving either person from the family court matter (the petitioner or respondent).

To get the transcript, the district attorney must send a written request to the court. The request has to explain that the transcript is needed for a criminal investigation or prosecution. The court must then hand over the copy.

There's an important limit on how the district attorney can use this transcript. Once they have it, they can't share it with others unless it's actually needed for that same criminal investigation or case. This keeps the personal and sensitive information from the family court proceedings from spreading beyond what's necessary for the criminal matter at hand.
