§ 844 Reconsideration and modification

If a family court judge has already made a decision under certain support-related sections of the law, this rule says that decision isn't necessarily final and unchangeable. Either person involved in the case can ask the court to look at it again and change it.

To get the order changed, you need to show "good cause." This means you need a real reason, like a change in circumstances, not just that you disagree with the outcome. The court will hold a hearing before deciding whether to modify the original order.

This rule gives people a way to go back to court if their situation changes after an order is issued. For example, if someone's income changes a lot, or other important facts shift, they can ask the judge to revisit the case instead of being stuck with the original terms forever.
