Rule 22 Recording of Proceedings

If you are charged with a serious crime in Ohio, everything that happens in court must be recorded. This includes hearings, arguments, and any other proceedings in your case.

If you are charged with a minor crime, the court must record any time you give up your right to a lawyer. Beyond that, a recording of other proceedings will only be made if you or the other side asks for one.

Courts can use different methods to make these recordings. A court reporter, a stenotype machine, an electronic recorder, or a video camera are all acceptable options.
