If the president of the Oklahoma Bar Association can no longer serve, whether they resign, become unable to do the job, or leave the position empty for any other reason, the vice-president automatically takes over. The vice-president finishes out whatever time was left in the president's term.

This rule keeps the organization running smoothly without gaps in leadership. There's no need for a special election or a waiting period. The next person in line, the vice-president, simply steps up right away and takes on the full duties of president until the term would have normally ended.
