Art VIII Sec 8 Recommendations Concerning Policy

This rule explains how the Oklahoma Bar Association decides to take an official position on policy matters, whether those matters involve state government, the federal government, or the American Bar Association. Before the organization can recommend any policy, the House of Delegates has to vote on it. A majority of the delegates who actually cast a vote must agree before the recommendation becomes official.

There's one exception to this process. The Board of Governors also has the power to make policy recommendations, but only in the specific way described in Section 9 of these bylaws. This means there are two proper paths for the bar association to weigh in on policy: through a House of Delegates vote or through the Board of Governors acting under its own separate authority.
