§ 1387 Injunction during litigation without notice - Service of order.

If a judge grants an injunction while a case is still going on, and the other side didn't get advance notice that someone asked for it, the court still has to tell them right away once it's granted. The sheriff is in charge of delivering the injunction order to each person or group it applies to. This delivery has to happen the same way a summons is served, following the normal legal steps for handing someone official court papers.

The sheriff can't sit on this. The rule says the order must be served "forthwith," which means without delay. After serving the papers, the sheriff also has to report back to the court confirming that service happened. This process protects the rights of the person being restricted by the injunction. Even though they didn't get a heads-up before the order was issued, they must be formally notified as soon as it takes effect, so they know what they're required to do or stop doing.
