Rule 3 Administrative Suspension and Revocation for Nonpayment of Certificate Renewal Fee

If a court reporter doesn't pay their certificate renewal fee, their certificate can be suspended or even revoked. This process follows separate rules set by the State Board of Examiners of Certified Court Reporters, not the formal disciplinary process described elsewhere in these rules.

In simple terms, there are two different systems here. One handles serious misconduct or violations, with hearings and formal steps to protect the reporter's rights. The other handles simple nonpayment of fees, which works more like an automatic penalty. If a reporter loses their certificate just because they forgot to pay or didn't pay on time, they don't get the full disciplinary hearing process. That process is reserved for cases involving actual misconduct, not just missed payments.
