§ 1169 Restoration to sanity.

If someone was found unable to stand trial because they were not mentally competent, this rule explains what happens once they become mentally competent again. Once that happens, the sheriff has to act right away. The person must be moved back into regular custody so the case can move forward.

From there, the person will either go to trial, receive a judgment, or be legally released, depending on where the case stands. The point of this rule is to make sure someone doesn't stay stuck in limbo after their mental health improves. Once they are able to understand the case against them again, the legal process is supposed to pick back up without unnecessary delay.
