§ 206 Disarming person arrested.

If you get arrested, the officer or person arresting you has to take away any weapons you're carrying. This includes guns, knives, or anything else that could be used to hurt someone.

Those weapons don't just disappear or get kept by the arresting officer. They have to be handed over to the judge (called a magistrate) when you're brought to court. This keeps everyone safe during the arrest and makes sure the weapons are accounted for properly by the court system.
