When someone challenges a juror during jury selection, the judge has to make a decision right away. The judge either accepts the challenge or rejects it. There's no sitting on the fence.

If either side asks for it, the court clerk has to write down the judge's decision in the official record. This creates a paper trail showing exactly what was decided and when, which can matter later if someone wants to appeal the case.

This rule keeps jury selection moving and makes sure there's a clear record of what happened. Without this kind of documentation, it would be hard to prove later on whether a juror challenge was handled correctly.
